iGuidance is designed for laptops/AutoPC running the Microsoft Windows Me, 2000 or XP operating system, and handheld devices running the Microsoft Pocket PC wm2003, wm2003se, and wm5 operating system. Since the map of the entire North America is very large, you must use the companion map loading software on your desktop PC (or laptop) to select the portion of the map that you need. For Pocket PC installations, the map data will be transferred to your handheld device via ActiveSync or a card reader. When you travel to a different area of the country and need a different map, the map loader will let you change the maps on your laptop or handheld device.
(!) Advisory - Make sure your handheld device's ActiveSync software is installed before you install the iGuidance and that you have the latest version.
(!) Advisory - Make sure your handheld device is connected to your desktop (or laptop) and is turned on before installing iGuidance.
(!) Advisory - Please close all programs except Microsoft's ActiveSync program.
Insert the iGuidance DVD or CD disk into your DVD-ROM or CD-ROM drive. If the setup program does not automatically start, click Start, Run, then type D:\setup.exe where D: is usually the drive letter of your media drive, and press Enter. Follow the directions in the ensuing dialog boxes.
Selecting and loading maps to your handheld device
1. Connect your handheld device to your PC
2. Start the map loader program on your PC. Click Start, Programs, iNav, iGuidance, Map Loader, or simply tap the MapLoader short link on your PC.
3. Click on the areas of the map that you want to transfer to your handheld device
4. Select where you want to copy the maps to by clicking on the Target Location box at the bottom of the map loader screen. Choose either Pocket PC Storage Card (recommended) or Pocket PC Main Memory.
5. Check the memory status to confirm that your handheld device has sufficient memory
6. Click OK to begin transfer
Maps can also be transferred to your storage card thru a card reader or a PC card (PCMCIA) adapter.
Selecting and loading maps via a card reader or PC card adapter
1. Make sure the external USB card reader, built-in card reader, or PC card adapter is plugged in and the storage card is inserted.
2. Start the map loader program on your PC. Click Start, Programs, iNav, iGuidance, Map Loader, or simply tap the MapLoader short link on your PC.
3. Click on the areas of the map that you want to transfer to your handheld device
4. Select where you want to copy the maps to by clicking on the Target Location box at the bottom of the map loader screen. The storage card should appear as a drive letter, e.g. E:.
5. Check the memory status to confirm that your storage card has sufficient memory
6. Click OK to begin transfer
Menu Screen
Most of the functions can be accessed from the Menu screen. From the map screen tap the large Menu button to set destination, Shortcuts, Itinerary, Speed Alert, Route Options, Display Options, GPS Info, and Volume.
Map Screen
This is the main screen of the program, which you will be using most of the time.
1. Use the handheld's left/right buttons to quickly switch rotate screens (map, guidance, trip info, current location, gps info, and route list).
2. Use the handheld's up/down buttons to zoom in and zoom out.
3. Tap and drag the map screen to pan around the map.
4. Tap the red "X" button to return to the Map screen.
5. The car cursor changes color according to GPS signal status. Green indicates a strong GPS signal. Yellow indicates insufficient GPS signal. Red indicates no GPS signal.
6. Tap the North arrow or Direction Arrow to toggle between the two displays.
7. The next turn movement display at the top of the screen is only shown when a destination has been entered and a route has been calculated.
8. The Trip Status Box display will only show Speed at 0mph when no destination has been entered. With an active destination, the Trip Status Box will display Speed, ETA (estimated time of arrival), REM (remaining time) and DIST (distance to destination).
9. Tap bottom of screen where current street name is displayed to view additional location info such as block info, city name, and coordinates (when available).
10. Tap bottom of screen where Trip Status Box is displayed to temporarily exit out of full screen mode to access task bar for additional routing functions.
11. Tap direction arrow on upper left corner to hear voice instruction at any time.
Guidance Screen
This is the main screen of the program which you
will be using most of the time. By default, Map Screen will switch to
Guidance Screen automatically when getting closer to a turn maneuver
(recommended). Guidance Screen zooms in at turn maneuver point and
displays distance to next movement.
Route List Screen
The Route List Screen provides turn and distance
information about the entire route. Tap commands View, Route List.
1. Use Left/Right buttons to quickly
change screens.
2. While in Route List Screen, use Up/Down buttons or the Up/Down
Arrow buttons to scroll through the route list.
3. Tap the red backspace arrow to go back to the
previous screen.
GPS Info Screen
The GPS Information screen provides information on
the status of the GPS receiver and the current position and speed. The green
colored bars indicates good signal, while red indicates insufficient signals. To Enter a Destination by Address
1. Tap Menu, Destination,
Address.
2. Tap Change to select the state in which to
search.
3. Tap Street First to enter the street name first or
City First to entry the city name first.
If you've selected Street First 4. Enter street name and tap OK.

1. Tap Menu, Destination,
Intersection.
2. Tap Change to select the state in which to
search.
3. Tap either Street First to enter the street name
first or City First to enter the city name first.

To Enter a Destination by City Center
1. Tap Menu, Destination, City Center.
2. Select Alphabetical or By Distance within 25 Mi (40 KM) or Alphabetical under List All.
If you've selected Alphabetical
3. Enter the name of the destination.
4. Select a matching City Center location from the list.
5. Tap OK to accept the location. The location details will be shown.
6. Tap Nav to navigate to this location or;
7. Tap Fav to add this location to your Favorites list or;
8. Tap Map to set this location as your starting point and see the location on the map.
If you've selected By Distance
3. Select a City Center
4. Tap Nav to navigate to this location or;

If you've selected to List All
3. Enter the City name or scroll up/down to select the City.

To Enter a Destination by Points of Interest
1. Tap Menu, Destination, Points of Interest.
2. Tap one of the categories for Points of Interest.
3. Tap one of the sub-categories for Points of Interest or Select All.
4. Select Alphabetical or By Distance within 25 Mi (40 KM), By City, or List All.
If you've selected Alphabetical
5. Enter the name of the destination.
6. Select a matching POI location from the list.
7. Tap OK to accept the location. The location details will be shown.
8. Tap Nav to navigate to this location or;
9. Tap Fav to add this location to your Favorites list or;
10.Tap Map to set this location as your starting point and see the location on the map.
If you've selected By Distance
5. Select a POI.
6. Tap Nav to navigate to this location or;

5. Enter the City name.

(i) Information - When in search mode, enter just first few letters of the POI name, and iGuidance will list all POI's whose names start with or contain the same letters.
To Enter a Destination by Coordinates
1. Tap Menu, Destinations, Coordinates.
2. Enter LAT coordinate in decimal format.
3. Enter LON Coordinate in decimal format.
4. Tap Nav to navigate to this location or;
5. Tap Fav to add this location to your Favorites list or;
6.
Tap Map to set this location as your
starting point and view the location on the map.
(i) Information - If
no actual street address from map database matches the exact coordinates, iGuidance
will map or navigate to closest location instead. To Enter a Destination from Contacts
(!) Advisory - This feature
obtains the list of names from the Outlook's Contacts list. You must first
create or have already created one using the Contacts application. In
order for iGuidance to find a match for the address, the contact's information
must be accurate. In some cases, a match to an abbreviated word may not be
found. In addition, the address be
entered using the format with separate Street: City: State: fields. In Contacts
under Work address, for example, please click on the down-arrow v to enter the
fields separately.
1. Tap Menu, Destination,
Contacts.
2. Select a name from the list.
3. Tap Home, Office, or Other to set it
as the destination.
To Enter a Destination from Favorites
1. Tap Menu, Destination,
Favorites.
2. Select a destination from the list if you have already
created one.
3. Tap Nav to navigate to this location or;
4. Tap Map to set this location as your starting point
and see the location on the map or;
5. Tap Edit to create a label such as HOME for this
destination or change the label if one already exists or;
6. Tap Del to delete this location from your Favorites
list.
To Enter a Destination from Recent
1. Tap Menu, Destination,
Recent.
2. Select the destination.
3. Tap Nav to navigate to this location or;
4. Tap Map to set this location as your starting point
and see the location on the map or;
5. Tap Edit to create a label such as HOME for this
destination or change the label if one already exists or;
6. Tap Del to delete this location from your Recent
list.
To Set the Speed Alert Speed Alert notifies you with an audible sound when you have
exceeded the target speed. Target speed can be set to a fixed speed or
automatically to the speed class of the roadway. ! Warning - Auto Speed
Alert (using the roadway speed class) should only be used for information and
should not be used as an indicator for legal speed limits or safe driving
speeds. Drivers should abide by the law and use best judgment for safe
driving at all times.
1. Tap Menu, Speed Alert to open the Speed
Alert screen.
2. Tap Auto to use recorded speed class of the
roadway.
3. Tap
Fixed to enter a speed limit on your own.
4. Tap OK to accept the changes.
5.
Tap Disable to disable speed alert function.
To Enable Fog Driving Assistance iGuidance provides a Safety
Feature to notify you when an intersection is approaching. This safety
measure helps you to become more aware of incoming traffic and traffic signals,
which is especially needed during foggy conditions. When approaching a
4-way intersection, you will hear a special double beeping sound.
1. From task bar, tap on the commands Tools, Safety
Features.
2. Tap Fog Driving to toggle on and off.
To Set a Detour iGuidance offers the ability
to detour around a section of route or by distance that you are currently driving on.
The Detour feature will only be present if a destination has been
entered.
1. Tap Menu, Destination. Your current destination will be shown.
2. Tap Demo to play demo with all the voice prompts.
3. Tap Clear Route to cancel current stopover destination.
4. Tap New Route to enter new stopover
destination.
5. Tap Detour to select distance to avoid (3
options).
6. Tap Avoid Road to select route
segments to be avoided, and select one or more of the segments and tap Avoid after each
selection.
7. Tap Clear to undo "avoid" for highlighted segment
8. Tap Nav to create detour. To Cancel Detour and Revert Back to the Original
Route
1. Tap Menu, Destination. Your current
destination will be shown.
2. Tap Detour, Reset (if detour by distance), or
Avoid Road, Reset (if detour by avoid road). To Add a Stopover
Stopover is a feature that allows you to set an intermediate
destination after you've selected a final destination. For example, if you
are traveling from Los Angeles, CA to Las Vegas, NV, where Las Vegas is your
final destination, you can enter a Stopover for a rest break along the
way. The Stopover feature will only be present if a destination has been
entered.
1. Tap Menu, Destination. Your current destination will be shown.
2. Tap Stopover then enter a new
destination.
3. iGuidance will route you to the Stopover
destination and automatically add this stopover to your Itinerary and Recent
List.
4. Once you have reached your Stopover, iGuidance will ask
you if you want to proceed to your next or final destination.
To Cancel Your Stopover Destination and Revert Back to
Your Original Destination
1. Tap Menu, Destination. Your current
destination will be shown.
2. Tap Clear Route.
3. Tap Yes when prompted to continue to next or final
destination.
To Set the Route Options
1. Tap Menu, Route Options to open the Route
Options screen.
2. Select the desired options
3. Tap OK to accept
changes
Method: Selects the method of routing - the
quickest route, shortest route, route that favors major roads, or route that
favors local roads.
Reduce Turns:
Selects whether reduced turns should be enabled or disabled in the route
calculation.
Ferries: Selects whether ferries should be
included or excluded in the route calculation.
Toll Roads: Selects whether toll roads
should be included or excluded in the route calculation.
Carpool: Selects whether carpool lanes
(High Occupancy Vehicle lanes) should be included or excluded in the route
calculation. To Set the Display Options
1. Tap Menu, Display Options to open the Display
Options screen.
2. Select the desired options.
3. Tap OK to accept changes. Map Orientation: Orients the Map screen so that
the driving direction is pointing up or North is pointing up.
Day/Night Mode: Sets color scheme to Day
or Night mode. Auto (recommended) setting changes from Day to
Night mode automatically at approximately sunrise and sunset.
Color Theme: Changes map background color
based on the four color options available. Guidance Screen: Sets the Guidance screen to
automatically switch when getting closer to a turn maneuver, or have it appear
only when manually selected.
POI Icons: Activates POI icon display on
map based on Default, Off, or Custom setting.
3D Map View:
Changes map display based on 3 different angle views. Select 2D to turn
off 3D and display in 2D regular map view. To Set Itinerary and do route planning
The Itinerary screen provides route planning
capability when multiple stopover destinations are entered, and may be used to
plan your route with or without a GPS receiver.
-or- 1. Enter a stopover destination and tap Map.
2. Continue step 1 above until all of the stopover
destinations have been entered.
3.
Tap Menu, Itinerary to open Itinerary
screen.
4. All stopover destinations entered should appear
on your Itinerary list.
To Plan Your Route From Itinerary List
1. Tap Menu, Itinerary to open Itinerary screen.
2. Arrange the route order by selecting a destination from the list and tap Move Up or Move Down to move it up or down on the list.
3. Tap Del to delete a destination from the Itinerary.
4.
Tap Go! to start routing based on Itinerary
(when connected to a GPS receiver).
(i) Information - Each
time a destination is entered, the address looked up will be automatically added
to both your Itinerary and Recent List. To Create or Add to the Favorites List
1. Enter a destination.
2. From the match list, tap Fav.
3. Tap OK.
- or - 1. Tap Menu, Recent.
2. Select a recent destination.
3. Tap Fav.
4. Tap OK.
To Add a label to your Favorites
1. Tap Menu, Destination,
Favorites.
2. Select a destination.
3. Tap Edit.
4. Enter a label using the keypad.
5. Tap OK.
To Set Hotkeys
1. From taskbar, tap on the
commands Tools, Hotkey Options to open the Set Hotkeys screen.
2. Tap the desired function for Hotkey
setting.
3. Use your handheld's hardware hotkey
buttons to set Hotkey for the function selected.
4. Tap OK to accept changes.
5. Tap Disable to disable hotkeys.
6. Tap Clear All to clear all previous
hotkey settings.
7. Tap Clear Key to clear selected
hotkey setting.
To Set Shortcuts
Shortcuts screen provides one button quick link to
a Home address (can be any address you designate as Home) and six popular
POI categories including ATM, Gas, Hospital, Parking, Restaurant, Tourist
Information.
To View Shortcuts Screen
1. Tap Menu, Shortcuts.
2. Tap Go Home to route to the address you designated as Home.
3. Tap ATM, Gas, Hospital, Parking, Restaurant, Tourist Information to lookup POIs closest to your current location by distance.
To Set An Address as Home
1. Tap Menu, Shortcuts.
2. Tap Set Home to enter a destination by address.
3. Select an address from the list if multiple addresses displayed.
5. Tap OK to confirm or Cancel to discard change.
To Record a Track
(i) Information - the driving path can be recorded as a track for playback at a future time. When recording a track, the Map screen will show a red REC under the North Arrow or Direction Arrow to indicate recording status.
1. From task bar, tap File, Record Track.
2. Accept the default filename and file location.

1. From task bar, tap File, Record Track.
2. Enter filename and file location.
3. Tap OK to accept or Cancel to reject.
4. Begin driving.
5. Tap File, Stop Recording to end the recording.
To Playback a Previously-Recorded Track
(i) Information - When playing a track, the Map screen will show PLAY under the North Arrow or Direction Arrow to indicate playback status.
1. From task bar, tap File, Play Track.
2. Select the track file from the list.
3. Playback will begin automatically.
4. Tap File, Stop Playback to stop the playback.
To Play a Demo of the Route
(i) Information - Once you have selected both starting and destination locations, iGuidance provides a demo feature which allows you to preview the entire route (including all the voice prompts and navigation) as if you were driving through the actual route without being connected to your GPS receiver.
1. Select your starting location and tap Map (when not connected to a GPS receiver).
2. Select your destination location and tap Nav.
3. From task bar, tap File, Start Demo, or Menu, Destination, Demo.
4. Tap File, Stop Demo to stop the demo anytime.
Panning and Zooming
To Pan the Map
>From the Map screen tap and drag the map area.
(i) Information - Tap on the N icon in the Taskbar to rotate the map so that North or heading is pointing up. While in Panning mode, tap the red "X" button to return to the Map screen.
To Zoom In and Out
Use your handheld's hardware up and down buttons to zoom in and zoom out. You can also use the zoom icons (+/-) on the two sides of the Map screen.
(i) Information - The Map screen is the only view that allows zooming and panning.
To View Trip Information
Trip Information screen lists trip info for up to 3 trips.
1. Before driving, tap View, Trip Info to display Trip Information screen.
2. Tap Start to start recording.
3. When reaching destination, tap View,
Trip Info, Stop to stop recording.
4. Information recorded include Start Time,
End Time, Elapsed Time, Total Distance traveled, Average Speed, and Top Speed.
To Adjust the Guidance Volume Setting
(i) Information - The Guidance
Volume is independent of the mixer volume. You may, for example, playback
an .MP3 file at certain volume level setting and hear the guidance prompts at a
different level setting.
1. Tap Menu, Volume.
2. Select the volume level.
3. Tap Test to hear the volume
level.
4. Tap Mute to silence.
5. Tap OK to accept and return to Map screen.
To Access Local Weather Report
(i) Information -
Internet connection via local area network, bluetooth device,
mobile phone, or wi-fi is required.
(i) Information -
To access weather information for destination point when not
connected to a GPS receiver, look up
destination and tap Map first.
1. From task bar, tap View,
Weather to display weather info for current location.
To Switch to a Different Distance Unit
1. From task bar, tap Tools, Distance Units.
2. Tap Metric (KM) to display distance
in kilometers using metric system.
3. Tap English (Mi/Ft) to display
distance in miles and feet.
4. Tap English (Mi/Yd) to display
distance in miles and yard. Troubleshooting

My GPS doesn't seem to be working
Check the GPS Info screen to confirm GPS reception.
If using bluetooth receiver, make sure you have
created device profile and configured bluetooth connection properly by following
the information provided in iGuidance Installation Guide. Exit the program and restart it.
Perform a Soft Reset and restart.
Check to see if the GPS receiver is plugged in
securely.
Check to see if the batteries are low.
Charge the batteries on your handheld device.
(i) Information -
when connecting GPS receiver for the first time, it
may take up to ten (10) minutes before all channels starting to lock on
signals. Tap View, GPS Info to verify GPS activity. The car cursor is red continuously Check the GPS Info screen to confirm GPS reception.
Check to see if the GPS receiver has a clear view of the
sky.
If not, move to a location where the GPS receiver's view of
the sky is not blocked.
Exit the program and restart it.
Perform a Soft Reset and restart.
Check to see if the GPS receiver is plugged in
securely.
A message on the handheld devices screen says Outside of
Map Area If you are indoors or if the GPS receiver's view of the sky
is obstructed, the program may think you are at an inaccurate location.
Move to a location where the GPS receiver's view of the sky
is not blocked
You may have driven beyond the coverage of the map loaded in
your handheld device.
Use the companion map loader program to load a different or
larger map onto your handheld device.

surface. Q: What is routing? A: Routing is the calculation of a driving route

you've purchased. Typically, GPS provide position accurate to 30 or 10
meters depending on your GPS receiver. Q: Do I have to pay a monthly fee for the
services? A: No. There are no fees to use
GPS. Q: Will it work indoors? A: No. GPS receivers require a view of the sky
to receive the necessary signals from the satellites. Similarly, GPS will
not work in a tunnel or under a freeway overpass, unless you have additional
sensors such as compass, gyro, speed sensors, etc. Q: Can someone track me with
it? A: No. People cannot track your movements.
However, if you record a track, the track file will indicate your
movement. If you do not wish other to know past locations, do not share
the track files. Q: What areas do the maps
cover? A: The maps cover most areas of the United
States and Canada. Q: How much extra memory do I
need? A: Memory requirement depends on how much map
data you want to load on your handheld. The program application is about
11-12MB, and map file ranges from 6-80MB per state. Q: Does it work with my Palm
or Smart Phone device? A: No. This software runs on most PC and Pocket PC
operation system devices. Q: Will it work in another country?
Mexico, Japan, England? A: While GPS can provide positional coordinate
for the earth's surface as long as the receiver has a clear view of the sky (and
the GPS satellites). However, maps, navigation and routing are only provided in
United States and Canada and within the map coverage areas by iGuidance North
