Sync with a Microsoft Exchange Server
You can increase your productivity when you are away from the office by setting up an account to access e-mail, text messages, voice mail, calendar, and
contact information from a Microsoft Exchange Server.
To set up the account, you must obtain the name of the Exchange Server and the server domain from the wireless service provider or your system
administrator. You must also know your Exchange user name and password.
Note
- Your phone must have an Internet connection before you can perform this procedure.
- Your organization must use a Microsoft Exchange Server to manage e-mail.
- If your phone is connected to your computer, disconnect it before you continue with the next step.
- Tap
> ActiveSync.
- Tap Menu > Configure Server.
- Enter your server address, and then tap Next.
- Make sure the Attempt to detect Exchange Server Settings automatically box is selected.
- Enter your user name, password and domain.
- Make sure the Save Password box is selected.
- If necessary, ask your system administrator for the name of the domain.
- Tap Next.
- If automatic configuration is successful, tap Next.
- If not, enter your Server address.
- If necessary, ask your system administrator for the server address and SSL information.
- Tap Next.
- Select the check box or boxes for any items you want to sync.
- Tap Finish.

Sync with an Internet service provider or a mobile operator
If you have an e-mail account with an Internet Service Provider or a mobile operator, you can set up your phone to sync your e-mail with that account.
- Tap
> E-mail > Setup E-mail.
- Enter your e-mail address, and password, and then tap Next.
- To get e-mail server settings automatically, select Try to get e-mail settings automatically from the Internet.
- Tap Next.
- After Auto Setup has finished, tap Next.
- If your phone wasn’t able to detect your e-mail settings, you will need to enter this information manually. In the Your e-mail provider drop-down list, select your e-mail provider (Internet e-mail or custom domain), and then tap Next.
- IF you selected Custom domain, enter the name of your e-mail address provider (for example, live.com or hotmail.com), and then tap Next.
- In the Incoming mail server box, enter your incoming mail server name. In the Account type list, select your account type (POP3, IMAP4, or FbTransport), and then tap Next.
- Enter your username and password, and then tap Next.
- In the Outgoing (SMTP) mail server box, enter your outgoing mail server name, and then tap Next.
Note
If your e-mail server requires authentication, select Outgoing server requires authentication.
- Select how often to sync your e-mail, and then tap Finish.

You can set up your phone to send and receive e-mail from your Windows Live Hotmail account.
Note
Your phone must have an Internet connection before you can perform this procedure.
- Tap
> E-mail > Setup E-mail.
- Enter your e-mail address and password, select Save password, and then tap Next.
- When the automatic setup has finished, tap Next.
- Tap Accept.
- If you do not want Windows Live options to appear on the Today screen, clear the Live Search bar and Windows Live services check boxes, and then tap Next.
- If you want to sync contacts and e-mail, make sure that the check boxes next to Store Windows Live contacts in your mobile phone’s contact list and Sync e-mail are selected. Make sure that the Merge duplicate contacts check box is selected if you want your contacts to show in your phone contact list.
- Tap Next. The phone will try to sync with your Hotmail account.
- Tap Done if it is needed.
