A single text message can be up to 160 characters. If you compose a text message that is longer than 160 characters, it will be sent automatically as two or more text messages.

If you want to respond to a rich text message using plain HTML, tap Edit sender’s message when replying to the message. This converts the message from rich text to HTML and removes the sender’s backgrounds, color, and font choices and any emoticons inserted into the message.

    1. Tap Start > E-mail > Outlook E-mail.
    2. Tap the voice mail message from the list to open and read the transcript that accompanies the voice mail message.
    3. To listen to the audio version of the voice mail message, tap Play.

View and manage SMS by conversation

A convenient way to view and manage text messages (SMS) is to track them by conversation. By default, SMS are sorted by conversation or subject. You can also sort by message type, From, and Received.

    1. Tap Start > SMS.
    2. Tap the existing sorting method (such as Received or Subject), and choose a new one from the list.

    Move or delete SMS

    1. Tap Menu > Select Messages.
      • To move an entire conversation, choose All.
      • To move a group of text messages, choose All Below, and then choose the conversation at the top of the list that you want to move or delete.
      • To move a mixed group of messages, choose Several, and then choose the conversations you want to move or delete.
      • To cancel the selection, tap Menu > Cancel Selection.
    2. Move or delete the selected messages:
      • To move them, tap Menu > Move, and then choose the folder or subfolder to place the conversation or text messages.
      • To delete them, tap Menu > Delete.

    Note

Moving a conversation or SMS within a conversation from the Inbox to another folder or subfolder does not keep the messages grouped by conversation. However, moving these messages back to the Inbox regroups them by conversation.

Sync text messages with your computer

You can now use ActiveSync to sync your SMS to your Exchange 2010 e-mail account. That way, you can track the messages you’ve sent and received. You can also recover your SMS if you reset, replace, or lose your phone.

Before you can synchronize SMS, you must have at least one e-mail account set up on your phone that uses Exchange 2010. See Sync your data with an Exchange Server.

Once you’ve set up the e-mail account, you can synchronize your SMS the same way you synchronize all of your other information with ActiveSync. For more information about setting up ActiveSync and syncing your data with Windows XP, or setting up Windows Mobile Device Center and syncing your data with Windows Vista, vist our our website, www.windowsmobile.com.
